Cadence

Overview

Cadence is built with your privacy in mind. Cadence runs no servers and collects no personal data — everything you enter stays on your device. If you choose to turn on Sync across devices, your household syncs through your own Google Drive (see “Sync across devices” below); even then, Cadence runs no servers and cannot read your data.

What we collect

Nothing. Cadence operates no servers and receives none of your information. There are no Cadence accounts, no passwords, and no email collection, and we use no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking. Sync across devices is optional; if you turn it on, you sign in with your own Google account so the app can create and share one household file in your Google Drive. That sign-in is between you and Google — Cadence still receives nothing.

How your data is stored

All information you enter — family member names, activity schedules, reminders, costs, and documents — is stored locally on your device using Android's Room database and your app's private storage. Cadence also offers a Download My Data feature that lets you export everything as a single JSON file, saved wherever you choose. Cadence never transmits this file anywhere; you can use it to move your data to another device. If you turn on Sync across devices, a copy of your household (not the document files themselves) is also stored as a file in your own Google Drive so an invited co-parent can stay in sync — see below.

Sync across devices (optional)

Sync is off by default, and Cadence works fully on a single device with no account. If you turn it on, Cadence signs you in to your own Google account and creates one household file in your Google Drive, which you can share with a co-parent you invite; your co-parent opens that shared file to sync. Cadence uses Google's “drive.file” access, which limits the app to only the files it creates or that you explicitly open with it — it cannot see the rest of your Drive. Cadence runs no servers and cannot access this file or its contents: the data lives in your Google Drive, is governed by Google's privacy policy, and is shared only with the co-parent you choose. Document files themselves are not uploaded — only their entries sync; each file stays on the device that added it. You can turn Sync off at any time in Settings, which disconnects the account and stops syncing.

Subscription

Cadence offers an optional paid subscription managed entirely through Google Play Billing. Cadence does not process payments directly and has no access to your payment information. Subscription transactions are governed by Google's terms and privacy policy.

Device permissions

Cadence requests permissions only when you use the related feature. Notifications are used for activity reminders and are generated locally. Documents are added through Android's file picker and copied into the app's private storage. Calendar sync, if you turn it on, creates a "Cadence" calendar on your device and manages activity events there; nothing is read from your other calendars' events. Sync across devices, if you turn it on, uses your Google account to store and share the household file in your Google Drive, limited to files the app creates or that you open with it. You can revoke any permission at any time in your device's Settings.

Location search

When you type a location while adding an activity, Cadence sends that text to Google's Places service to show address suggestions. Cadence does not store these searches and never links them to you or your family's data. They are handled under Google's privacy policy.

Children's privacy

Cadence is designed for parents and adults managing household schedules. It does not collect data from anyone, including children. Information a parent enters about a child is stored locally on the parent's device; if Sync across devices is on, it also syncs through that parent's own Google Drive to an invited co-parent, as described above.

Data deletion

App data is stored on your device. Uninstalling the app removes all local data immediately — no deletion request, no waiting period. If you used Sync across devices: turn Sync off in Settings first (while sync is on, the app keeps the shared file up to date and will recreate it if it goes missing), then delete the household file in your Google Drive if you wish. Anything already synced to your co-parent's device stays on their device. You can use Download My Data to keep a copy before uninstalling.
